Monteverde Reserve reopens its doors

October 15, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve reopened on Saturday, after being closed for eight days due to the emergency caused by tropical storm Nate.

Through a press release, the Tropical Science Center, which manages the Reserve, indicated that starting on Saturday it will open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., as will the night tour from 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The closure in this sector was mandatory, as a landslide blocked the street that gives access to the Reserve.

In addition, the Center reported that for security reasons now the parking is located one kilometer before entering the Reserve, in the tourist attraction known as “Histórica”. From there, tourists will be transported in a minibus to the reception.

Most of the Biological Reserves, Wildlife Refuges and National Parks of the country were temporarily closed while the effects of Nate passed.
