The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) said it does not support bills that seek to regulate digital transport platforms, including Uber, because they do not solve the problem in an integral way.
The initiatives on collaborative mobility and the one called “transport networks, object, principles and nature of private transport service, were presented by Franklin Corella, former legislator of the PAC and current executive president of Dinadeco; and by Otto Guevara, Natalia Díaz, and José Alberto Alfaro, from the Libertarian Movement in the previous term.
Minister Rodolfo Méndez made the legislators see his observations on the projects during his hearing at the Committee on Economic Affairs, where he also explained that these transport modalities should be regulated.
As CRHoy.com announced a few days ago, the MOPT will present an alternative proposal for a law with an integral solution. The Minister asked legislators for a period of 30 days to present this initiative; and explained the ministry doesn’t have a magical procedure to eliminate existing platforms to meet taxi drivers’ demands.
