MOPT has two more weeks to present project to regulate Uber

January 8, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Economic Affairs Committee decided to grant a new extension to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) to present a bill that includes the regulation of digital transport platforms such as Uber.

Rodolfo Méndez had requested 20 working days to deliver the document; however, legislators decided to extend the deadline only for 10 business days.

Therefore January 22nd is the last day they have to get the initiative ready. In the letter sent to Pablo Heriberto Abarca, president of that legislative forum, Méndez affirmed that they have made progress in the project, although due to the complexity of the issue, they did not have the time in due course since they had to send it on December 18th.

This is the second extension granted, since the first was given for 30 days in November 2018.
