Municipal Police of San José joins the 9-1-1 service

March 20, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Municipality of San José will reinforce citizen security with the incorporation of its police to the 9-1-1 emergency system and the acquisition of 25 portable video cameras for Traffic officers.

This was announced by Mayor Johnny Araya, who said the monitoring center of the Municipality will be connected to 9-1-1 as part of an alliance with the General Direction of Transit.

The first events in which we are going to be connected with 9-1-1 are events that have to do with traffic, but we want to be connected for other types of incidents in the future,”

said Araya.

The video cameras will initially be delivered to 25 Traffic officers.

Araya also said that a drone acquired by the council for security issues in major events in the capital, investigations and illegal construction will be put into operation.
