The science, nature and history magazine National Geographic published a video recorded in Costa Rica. It shows the journey of a sloth on the road, specifically the one that connects Cahuita with Puerto Viejo, in Limón.
The video was recorded by photographer Gabriele Galimberti.
In the publication, the magazine explains that the name “perezoso” (lazy) comes from the animal’s slow movements.
Their usual inactivity is due to metabolic adaptations to conserve energy,”
explains the video published in National Geographic’s social media.
This is not the first time that the magazine highlights Costa Rican material. In 2018, it published a 60-second video about the beauties of Costa Rica: mountains, beaches, forests, rivers and volcanoes appeared in that audiovisual material shared thousands of times on social networks.
It also highlighted as photo of the day an image of a long-tongued bat taken in the country and in the same year it premiered the series “Indomitable”, showing the most diverse, iconic and unexpected animal species offered by the country.
