On Monday, the Legislative Assembly approved in the second reading a bill that declares the National Theater as a national symbol of the historical architectural heritage and cultural freedom.

The head of the fraction of the Citizen Action Party (PAC), Javier Cambronero, expressed his enthusiasm for the unanimous vote that the initiative received.

Within the framework of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the creation of the National Theater, the pride of all Costa Ricans, the Plenary approved the recognition of this jewel as a national symbol, a fundamental action in the construction of identity and a sense of belonging for the Costa Rican nationality, starting from the fact that thousands and thousands of Costa Ricans contributed to its construction,”

said Cambronero.

The legislator added that the law will contribute to maintaining the collective memory of the nation, strengthen the appropriation of this temple of art as the home of all Costa Ricans, and defend the different cultural manifestations of the Costa Rican people.
