Nearly 50 migrant women blocked the road in Peñas Blancas

September 6, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Nearly 50 migrant women and children blocked the road, in both directions, on the northern border of Peñas Blancas, in Guanacaste.

Carlos Hidalgo, Ministry of Public Security (MPS) spokesman, declared that migrants are from Congo. However, there are people from other countries whose nationalities have not been identified.

Police has monitored the situation. They are already coordinating with the National Children’s Trust (PANI) and the prosecution.

MSP spokesman explained that people are asking for permissions to cross with their children to continue their path. Authorities from the Press Office of Immigration indicated that they were corroborating the information.

On Sunday morning, at about 5:30 am on a bus in Tracopa, on the route between Paso Canoas and San José, 8 Ecuadorians and 2 Cubans were detained. They had passports, but entered the country illegally . They were taken to the Immigration Office.
