Nearly 450 cases of mumps have been confirmed in prisons

October 16, 2019 by Staff News Writer

From mid-September to date, health authorities account for 437 cases of mumps in the country. Of the total affected, 357 are prisoners and 80 are prison officials.

In order to prevent the spread of the virus, the judicial and health authorities decided to extend the prohibition of visits in several prisons.

As part of the actions to reduce the incidence, disinfection, use of mask and vaccination campaign measures have also been extreme.

The sanitary orders extend until October 24th and 31st, depending on the prison.

Relatives of some inmates of “La Reforma” denounced on CRHoy.com that prison staff are not applying hygiene and prevention measures.
