Neighbors’ suspicion lead to capture of alleged marero

December 5, 2017 by Staff News Writer

In less than a week, the Public Force arrested in Guanacaste another alleged member of the Mara Salvatrucha based in the ‘northern triangle’ of Central America.

The Salvadoran surnamed Rivas was arrested while wandering the streets of Filadelfia. The arrest was possible after the report of some local residents.

This is the second case reported in less than a week. On November 28th, another alleged member of that gang was arrested in Liberia.

The foreigner did not carry an identification, so we checked in the police filing system and were able to find his identity: Rivas, born in El Salvador in 1986. Rivas has tattoos with the letters ‘MS’ and the number 18 in his back and chest,”

reported the press office of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP).

Rivas had already been to Costa Rica, and had been deported in 2014 after being caught with an irregular migratory status.

The objective of these gang members in the country is still unknown.
