New bridge closed in less than 7 hours?

March 10, 2017 by Staff News Writer

As unusual as it sounds, in less than 7 hours the newly expanded bridge between Heredia and San José had a single lane once again.

The 4-lane structure between La Uruca and La Valencia was inaugurated at noon on Thursday with the name Yolanda Oreamuno. But at around 6 o’clock in the afternoon, a group of residents of the area blocked the transit and only allowed circulation in one lane every 20 minutes, while CONAVI authorities arrived to negotiate with the demonstrators.

The residents of the community claim that THE concrete structures prevent them from getting to their homes.

In addition, the bridge was inaugurated without demarcations, lights and traffic lights, all pending to be placed.
