November 4, 2019 by Staff News Writer

Minutes after 11 pm this Friday, the Jet Blue airline officially landed one of its planes at Juan Santamaría airport from New York, United States.

This flight officially opens the connection between New York with San José and vice versa, thereby expanding the possibility of tourism in Costa Rica for Americans and Costa Ricans.

This Jet Blue operation offers a nonstop flight between John F. Kennedy Airport to San José, Costa Rica, with three weekly flights, adding 23,400 new seats annually and fulfilling our promise to prioritize the attraction of additional flights from our main issuing market, United States,”

said María Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism.

According to data from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), in the first nine months of this year, 996,929 Americans entered the country by air.

A study by Travel Styles USA in 2018, indicates that the interest in visiting Costa Rica is the maximum in the history of American tourists, 44.7% of travelers from that country show such preference.

The research also states that Costa Rica is the country that most attracts the attention of Americans in Latin America for tourism, followed by Mexico with 42.7% and Brazil with 39%.
