Nicoya’s Mayor arrested in raids

On Tuesday, the Office of Probity Transparency and Anti-Corruption arrested the Mayor of Nicoya, Marco Jiménez, while conducting raids in eight departments of the local municipality.

The units investigated are Supply, Human Resources, Audit, Mayor’s Office, Secretariat of the Mayor’s Office, Land Maritime, Legal and Municipal Engineering Department.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation is being carried out for alleged crimes of embezzlement, influence against public finances, illegal appointments and fraud.

The Mayor will be presented to the Criminal Court of Treasury, based in the Second Judicial Circuit of San José.
