Nine-year-old’s ambitious recycling plan

June 6, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Fabricio Retana is 9 years old. As any other nine-year-old, he loves video-games and playing with friends, but stands out among his peers for his environmental sensitivity.

A month ago he decided to create a Facebook page to promote recycling of plastic bottles. His site is called Green Footprint CR and aims to raise awareness on the importance of recycling among children and adults.

His goal is not only to publish information, but to send one million bottles to a collection center to be reused. So far, he has collected 11,000 bottles and 712 followers who support him.

The government recognized his contribution during the World Environment Day and even gave him a stand to present his idea among millionaire companies.
