NLP candidate sets goal of economic growth at 5% by 2020

January 4, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The candidate of the National Liberation Party (PLN), Antonio Álvarez Desanti, said on Wednesday that the economic slowdown is sinking the country and therefore, he set several goals to achieve if he gets to the Presidential House.

In addition to the creation of 150,000 jobs, which had been released weeks ago, Ávarez said that two of its goals is that by 2020 the country’s economy will grow 5% and that the fiscal deficit will be reduced by 3% by 2022.

In the last year the Costa Rican economy has grown around 3%, with a tendency to deceleration over the last 11 months.

To achieve these goals, Álvarez Desanti and his team have five proposals to implement as of May of this year:
– Choosing the President and best-trained group.
– Creation of 150 thousand jobs.
– Creation of program that promotes infrastructure and construction.
– Spending transformation. Manage public spending better.
– In the face of a crisis and the increase of interest rates, proposing an alternative to national entities that have bonds and Costa Rican debt.

The liberationist and his group talk about a dialogue between political parties, leaving aside ideological dogmas, mainly in the matter of infrastructure, to let the private sector go in to develop the projects.

Another of Álvarez’s objectives is to have $350 million in Development Banking, so that in the first 18 months they can place themselves and give a boost to micro, small and medium-sized companies.
