Noriega moved to hospital for brain tumor surgery

October 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Supreme Court of Panama ordered Manuel Antonio Noriega, imprisoned in the country since 2011, to be transferred to a hospital to remove a tumor from his brain, reported the former dictator defense team on Monday.

According to Ezra Angel, defense lawyer of the former “hombre fuerte” (strong man) of Panama, the date of transfer to Santo Tomás Hospital, in the capital, to surgically remove a benign brain tumor, has not yet been defined.

In its resolution, the Panamanian Supreme Court orders the management of El Renacer prison, where Noriega is being held, to coordinate with Santo Tomás Hospital and the National Police for the transfer, custody and admission of the general.
