Officer who gave “Ojos Bellos” information is now free

March 14, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Public Force officer who was arrested for providing information to Dinier Estrada Jiménez, known as “Ojos Bellos”, was released on Monday after the court imposed a precautionary measure to sign every 15 days.

Given this, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will appeal the measure, as the idea is that he receives preventive custody as the other five members of the gang, who are linked to 11 homicide crimes and were arrested last Thursday.

The court held the 6-month pre-trial arrest against the men named Ventura, Estrada, Ugalde, Barrio and Estrada, known as “Ojos Bellos”. The officer of the Public Force, named Vallejos, must sign twice a month, and maintain fixed address, not leaving the country for 6 months.

The Prosecution will await a new Criminal Court hearing to resolve the appeal of Vallejos’ measures.
