Officials: “51,297 children have benefited from the networks of child care”

April 26, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Former president of the Republic Laura Chinchilla criticized the work of the current administration on the networks of child care, which were established during her government.

Chinchilla said in her social networks that this project was abandoned by Luis Guillermo Solís’ government. In addition, she indicated that it had already collapsed.

Therefore, vice president Ana Helena Chacón, minister of Human Development and IMAS Executive Chairman Emilio Arias and other officials defended the work they have done.

According to the data provided, since 2014 and up to this point, coverage has increased by 41%, which means 15,000 more children have been received and assisted in these Network of Care, which allows parents to go to work.

In 2014, there were 36,229 boys and girls, while by December 2016 that number had grown to 51,297.

Arias was clear in expressing that it is not possible to say that authorities abandoned that project when the number of children that are benefited from it has increased and their commitment to continue improving this project can’t be questioned.
