Officials will receive training on sexual diversity issues

July 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Different entities will initiate a strategy to train public officials on human rights and sexual diversity issues.

To that end, they signed the letter of understanding of the training strategy for public officials in LGBTI human rights.

The document was signed by the Vice-President of the Republic, Ana Elena Chacón, the Executive President of the National Institute of Learning (INA), Minor Rodríguez, the Netherlands Ambassador Peter Derrek Hof and the Deputy Representative of the United Nations, Kryssia Brade.

Miriam Rojas, Deputy Director General of Civil Service, José Rojas, representative of the Latin American University of Science and Technology (Ulacit), and Olga Sauma Uribe, executive director of the Business Partnership for Development, also signed the letter

The Deputy Director General of Civil Service reiterated the respect for human rights should prevail in all actions carried out by public officials.

Rojas explained that training activities for instructors provide conceptual and methodological tools for the development of processes and regulations that promote equality and non-discrimination.

The first training module will start in August.
