OIJ, FBI and DEA look for “M1”, the high-profile Costa Rican who sent drugs to the US

April 24, 2019 by Staff News Writer

Efraín López Mendoza, leader of the Revolutionary Movement of Organized Crime (Moreco) is wanted by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) and the US police authorities of the FBI and the DEA. He is identified as Dante or “M1” and would be the leader of a gang that transported 2,250 kilos of cocaine to Guatemala, Mexico and the United States.

Walter Espinoza, director of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), said that López Mendoza has a high international profile. In addition, the investigation links him with Mexican and American drug groups. They even documented connections with foreigners, negotiations and drug downloads.

The subject is a native of Guápiles and lately he lived in Grecia with a high socioeconomic level. The group is linked to business and livestock activities in the family as a screen.

Espinoza recalled that a kilo of cocaine in the United States can cost between $25 thousand and $30 thousand dollars.

He is the director of the gang, he had contacts abroad and with the recipients in the United States. We already have him surrounded and located. We hope to stop this in the next few hours,”

said Espinoza on Tuesday.

It is believed that the gang sent the drugs hidden in scrap metal and by air travel.
