October 17, 2016 by Staff News Writer

One out of the five neglected children found in a house on October 15th remains hospitalized. It is a 6-year-old girl who was with her four siblings. The little girl was taken to Tony Facio Hospital in Limón because she had signs of apparent aggression.

Fanny Cordero, spokeswoman for the National Children’s Trust (PANI) declared that the girl is stable and she is likely to leave the hospital on October 17th.

Once she is dicharged, she will be transferred to a shelter located in Moín, where there are their siblings.

According to Cordero, is still unknown how long the children were alone. Their parents were already found and the legal investigation will start on October 17th.

A person notified authorities that some children were locked in a house. When representatives from the security forces arrived, they found that the children have been abandoned and one of the girls had been assaulted and injured.

According to Cordero, unfortunately, this situation is common in several parts of the country.

Children alone at home is a very common situation. People continue placins children under 12 years old to take care of other children, exposing themselves to terrible risks. In this case they were also locked,

explained the spokeswoman.
