One third of the police camp in Crucitas was lost due to arson

April 22, 2018 by Staff News Writer

At least a third of the police camp in Crucitas was lost with a fire caused by firecrackers in the town of Crucitas, in Cutris de San Carlos. The place was attacked by a mob of 200 to 300 people after a confrontation with the Public Force, in which one of the gang members died.

The camp is located in the former facilities of the Infinito Gold mining company, which have been vacant for some time.

For now, Public Force will look for another place to settle. In addition, it will implement patrol strategies. The Public Force is significantly increasing the police presence in Crucitas, North Zone, in order to stop illegal workers and deport foreigners without documents participating in this activity.

The government made the decision in the face of the increase in the illegal extraction of gold in that area and threats to the security of the population and the police that occurred in the last hours.

Those who are caught participating in the extraction of gold or facilitate their production chain in any way, will be confiscated work tools, extracted minerals and illegal chemical materials, such as mercury and cyanide.

The Migration Police will also apply sanctions and fines to people who provide accommodation or working conditions to foreigners in an irregular situation.

The Public Force has maintained operations in Crucitas for more than a year and in this period there have been more than 180 arrests.
