Panacor Company fights back and defends its products

March 20, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Sistemas Constructivos Panacor SA Company, which manufactures the Panel Building System, defended the materials used in the construction of social homes in Pococí, including the styrofoam. However, last Tuesday, legislator Gerardo Vargas Varela, from Frente Amplio, Criticized the use of such materials.

The sandwich system, composed of two sheets of fiber cement with an expanded polystyrene core (styrofoam), is based on technology that complies with the different national and international building regulations and it has been approved and tested in many countries, Including Costa Rica, where different housing projects have been built, as well as for other uses with this construction system,

the firm said.

Mister Gerardo Vargas’ statements have no technical grounds and they are harmful to companies that comply with all the regulations required in the country,

it added.

According to the company, the construction system entered the US market approximately 60 years ago and it has been used in numerous residential and commercial constructions. During that time, it has undergone improvements to optimize its quality and effectiveness.

The company states that “polystyrene or styrofoam is not the main component of the panel and, in fact, its presence provides a number of additional benefits to the system that traditionally walls do not have, such as thermal insulation, perfect to build in hot areas, just like the discussed project.
