Panama removes its ambassador in Caracas and asks Venezuela to do the same

Panama removed its ambassador in Venezuela and asked Caracas to also remove its diplomatic representative accredited in Panama, following the measures taken by the government of Nicolás Maduro against Panamanian companies and officials, the Foreign Ministry reported.

The Government of Panama has decided to remove its Ambassador in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Miguel Mejía, and asks the Venezuelan Government to remove its accredited Ambassador in Panama, Jorge Durán Centeno,”

according to a statement. The reaction of the Panamanian government comes after Venezuela announced that it was temporarily suspending its economic relationship with Panama.
