Paracito Bridge opened with a huge hole in the rail

December 15, 2016 by Staff News Writer

“Construction error” were the words used by Pablo Contreras, Building General Manager of the National Highway Council (CONAVI), to describe the enormous space left on the guardrail of the bridge opened on Wednesday.

I do not understand how they open that bridge like that. A child can fall through that gap and it’s rather dangerous,”

said Rodrigo Mora, a resident of the area.

There is a widespread concern among residents, who fear an accident.

It was a construction error. We planned to place the railing at a different point, but then it was placed where it was safer. That caused quite a large space to be corrected in the coming days,”

said Contreras.

The official stated that the company in charge of construction will place a tube to eliminate the problem. The solution would be ready by the end of the year.
