Patient will not have to wait until 2025 for an ultrasound

January 10, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The claim of a woman named Chacón was heard by the judges of the Constitutional Court and she no longer has to wait until 2025 to get an abdominal ultrasound.

The judges ordered the director of the Marcial Fallas Clinic to immediately arrange for the patient to get the prescribed abdominal ultrasound in no longer than six months.

They also sentenced the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) to pay the costs and damages, to be settled through a process in the Administrative Tribunal.

Chacón turned to the Court because her gastric problems became very painful. However, at the Clinic they did not think the ultrasound recommended by the doctor was urgent, so the woman was given an appointment for March 10th, 2025.
