Pipe Works Flooded Paseo Colón

July 10, 2018 by Staff News Writer

People going through Paseo Colón yesterday had to avoid an important water leak that occurred just in front of San Juan de Dios Hospital, due to works in the sewer system.

Acueductos y Alcantarillados carried out a series of works to change pipes and the contracted company broke a structure that caused, flooding Paseo Colón. The accident not only caused traffic chaos and problems for pedestrians, but also affected the supply of water for more than 150,000 people.

The works will keep a closed lane for at least six weeks, aiming at improving the collection of wastewater and the reduction of the sewerage network in this area. To that end, AyA closes the road completely from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., when the traffic is not heavy. At this time there will be a lane enabled for emergency vehicles that go to San Juan de Dios Hospital and for buses only.
