Piszk questioned the Inspection Board of INFOCOOP

March 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Legislator Sandra Piszk questioned the Inspection Board of the Institute for Cooperative Development (INFOCOOP), appointed by the Executive.

Piszk detailed that the Board is chaired by executive president of INFOCOOP and Minister of Agriculture Luis Felipe Arauz.

She also mentioned the following officials:

-Luis Emilio Cuenca Botey: He will be the subcoordinator. He is the deputy minister and representative of the Ministry of Labor in INFOCOOP Board of Directors. .
-Édgar Quirós Núñez : He will be secretary and he currently works as treasurer of the BN Vital Board of Directors.
-Nidia Solano: She works as a prosecutor for the Banco Popular Investment Fund Society and she is the President of the Board of Directors of the National Bank’s sister. She was prosecutor in Banco Popular after Deputy Minister Cuenca’s departure.
-Ana Luis Calvo Monney : she is an alternate director of Banco Popular Workers’ Assembly.

Piszk clarified that she does not oppose the figure of the intervention in cases in which it is necessary, but she thinks that the creation of such a board is intended to copy entities like INFOCOOP.

It is clear to me that more than an intervention, the government wants to create a Board of Directors with people it trusts. That is why I point out the lack of transparency and ethics of this Government,

declared the official.
