Plaza la Cultura Fountain is closed due to maintenance works

November 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The joy for the new attraction of Plaza la Cultura lasted only a week. On November 21st, authorities decided to temporarily close the fountain to provide maintenance, as it has accumulation of ash and probably urine.

Rafael Marín, architect in charge of the place, explained that authorities decided to close the water jet, taking advantage on the fact that there were almost no children because of the cold. They intend to reopen it on Wednesday afternoon, depending on the weather, especially because of the hurricane that is likely to hit the country.

According to the architect, on average, there are from 15 to 20 children per hour and they usually spend more than 2 hours playing in the water jets. As consequence, he can´t deny that there is a possibility that many of them urinate at the fountain due to the lack of restrooms in the surroundings.

Marin explained that monthly inspections will be carried out to guarantee its cleanliness and prevent the spread of diseases.
