Plenary extends deadline to committee investigating cementazo

September 18, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Legislative Plenary agreed on Monday afternoon to extend the deadline to the special commission of the Congress that investigates the possible influences peddling in the granting of two lines of credit for $30 million by the Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) to the importer of Chinese cement, Juan Carlos Bolaños.

Thirty-nine legislators voted in favor of a motion to give the investigating commission until October 25th to render its final report.

Although she supported the initiative, Patricia Mora, from Frente Amplio, believed that the time is insufficient and announced that when that period expires, she will request another extension.

Initially, the commission would have to render its final report on October 3rd.
