PLN will bet on the Legislative Presidency with Carlos Ricardo Benavides

March 28, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The National Liberation Party (PLN) decided to seek the presidency of the Legislative Assembly with Carlos Ricardo Benavides as candidate for May 1st.

According to Gustavo Viales, general secretary of the Party and legislator of the PLN, they will seek a multi-party directorate, therefore, they formed a liaison commission to approach the other congressional parties.

Since February, the Citizen Action Party (PAC), through legislator Enrique Sánchez, had confirmed that negotiations with the PLN will be a priority.

Despite this, Viales emphasized that they will seek rapprochement with all the groups for an opposition board.

For the moment, the congressman informed that they only decided that position, since there are other two key positions in the Directory with voice and vote, as are the secretariats.

A key point for the liberationists will be to maintain some presidencies in key legislative committees.
