Poás and Turrialba gases rise to more than one kilometer

Turrialba and Poás Volcanoes recorded an important eruptive activity on Tuesday morning. According to data from the OVSICORI Volcanic Gas and Particle Monitoring Station, the Turrialba plume reaches a kilometer in height, while the plume from Poás rises to 1.5 kilometers.

Turrialba is expelling sulfur dioxide and aerosols that reach as far as the Central Valley, while the plume from

Poás is emitting liquid aerosols (tiny drops of sulfuric and hydrochloric acid) and solid aerosols,”

said Guillermo Alvarado, an expert from the National Seismological Network.
