Police makes 120 confiscations a day to street vendors

August 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Municipal Police of San José, is making almost 120 daily confiscations to street vendors located in the public spaces from the capital city.

Since May 2nd, they are working hard to remove the illegal sellers from the streets and boulevards and until June, nearly 2,000 confiscations were made. At this time, the regular number has decreased to 500 per month as explained Marcelo Solano, head of the Municipal Police.

According to census, there are 1,600 street vendors in San José.

He added that after two months of operations, they have noticed an improvement in the capital city.

We believe that it is due to the removal of opportunist sellers,

concluded the official.
