Police officers have been seizing fireworks

December 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

As part of preventive actions executed by the security forces in 2016, police officers have seized 218,539 firework units.

This are packages or units of fireworks that are not allowed to be sold or that entered the country illegally.

According to data from the Statistics and Analysis Section (SAE) of the security forces, most of them have been seized in the northern and southern borders.

However, in an exhaustive operation conducted by the Tourist Police, officers seized 130,000 bomblets. So far, this police force has seized 192,389 units of fireworks.

Deputy Minister of Public Safety, Commissioner Juan José Andrade urged family heads to keep an eye on their children at home.

This is a struggle of joint prevention: parents with their children at home and police confiscations on the street,

declared the official.
