Police officers want better working conditions

October 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Next Wednesday, the National Association of Public Employees (ANEP) called for a demonstration where different police groups will demand better working conditions.

The actions are going to start at 10:00 a.m. in the National Park. According to Mainor Anchía, director of the local branch of ANEP in law enforcement, it is time for legislators to address the pleas raised for years.

Among the groups of police forces that will participate are: Public Force, Transit Police, Immigration Police, Air Surveillance Service (SVA), park rangers, prison officers, Municipal Police and Drug Control Police (PCD).

We will be asking for a fair pension. Fair working days, legal safeness and a faster payment’s process, “

expressed their union spokesman.

Days ago, ANEP recommended to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to remove the work scheme 2x2x2 (2 days of works during the day, 2 days of work at night and 2 days off) because they think that it threatens the health of the officers.

Even the Department of Occupational Health of the Ministry of Public Security expressed its disagreement about the 2×2×2 indicating that it is a risk for the health. However that opinion was not taken into account by the MSP and rather they tried to extend that scheme to the entire country,”

reported Anchía, through ANEP´s website.
