Police officers were accomplices of a criminal group that stole containers

November 2, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Two officers from Limón’s Public Force were collaborators of the criminal group arrested on November 2nd on suspicion of stealing containers. The operation resulted in the arrest of 11 people.

The investigation found that the officers collaborated with the group by warning them about possible road checkpoint and they even guarded the stolen containers. The preferred containers to steal were the ones with products such as fine coffee and liqueurs.

The investigation began in February; however the group had operated for more than a year.

It is presumed that the group made their attacks on Route 32, Route 27 and other roads.

Apparently the group used the TICA system to track containers and goods that could be attacked.
