Prenatal Yoga in San Carlos

May 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

CCSS

A group of 15 pregnant women in San Carlos will be part of the Prenatal Yoga program of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).

Women over 20 weeks of pregnancy will have two hours to give their body the opportunity of learning about their new state through breathing, relaxation and postures that prepare them for the birth.

Alberto Argüello, coordinator of the program, explained that “these exercises cause hidden emotions in the body through the release of accumulated tensions that cause discomfort, contractures and physical and emotional blockages.”

The demand is so great that the hospital analyzes the possibility of opening a new group.
