President of UCCAEP resigns

November 7, 2019 by Staff News Writer

This Wednesday, and after weeks of criticism for his administration, Gonzalo Delgado, resigned as president of the Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (UCCAEP). A press release sent by UCCAEP says that Delgado made the decision in order to strengthen the unity of the business sector.

On the initiative of Mr. Delgado, in an extensive meeting of the Directing Council, the situation that Uccaep has been experiencing was analyzed and in it, he made the decision to resign for the welfare of the sector.”

For now, Alvaro Sáenz will assume the interim presidency.

Over the past few weeks, Delgado had been the subject of a series of criticisms by the same business sector. After the resignation of the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Industries and the National Chamber of Bananas at Uccaep, the Board of Directors of the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction (CCC) joined, an entity that asked Delgado to resign from office before November 12th.
