President Solís: Walls between nations must disappear

March 30, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The presidents and heads of State that participated in the Tuxtla Summit addressed the situation between the United States and Mexico.

One of the issues that came to light was the support against the wall that President Donald Trump wants to build.

The Costa Rican President was asked about his position on the issue, mainly because he did not speak about the situation during his speech at the meeting with the Heads of State.

Solís was clear in establishing Costa Rica’s concern for the migratory issue.

The walls between nations must disappear, that situation separates human families,”

said the president.

In addition, he was emphatic in that the idea of the Summit was not confrontation with other countries, but to come up with ideas that would benefit the member countries.

The Summit did not seek to confront the United States or another country, it is about building dialogues between nations,”

said the President, who spoke about five topics: migration, women’s empowerment, climate change, nuclear disarmament and public-private alliances.
