Promise to revamp Festival of Light

November 16, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On Tuesday morning, the Municipality of San José promised to restore the luster to the traditional Festival of Light with 14 floats and 15 bands.

Last year the Festival was not great. Employees, not politicians, organized it on their own (…) we were like orphans,”

said Jorge Villalobos, director of the activity.

In 2014, there were only 9 floats that traveled the streets of San José, while in 2015 the figure was reduced to 6. For the authorities this represents a loss of “shine”.

The last two years (…) it was really lame, so now it returns stronger,”

said Paula Vargas, interim mayor of San José Central.

On Tuesday morning they made the raffle of the order in which the 14 floats accepted the invitation made by the municipality that will participate:

Municipality of San José
Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT)
Coopenae
Kolbi
Banco Popular
Uaca
Tropical
Ministerio de Salud
Huawei
Claro
Infocoop
Banco Nacional
Demasa
Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS).
