Prosecutor was shot six times in front of his home

November 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Hans Marvin De La O SolĂs, public prosecutor murdered on Wednesday night, received six shots in front of his house in Fallas Street de Desamparados.

According to the official version, De La O left his office in Heredia at around 11:00 p.m. Some 50 minutes later he was preparing to enter his house, when he was intercepted by several gunmen.

The prosecutor’s murder will be investigated by the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime (FACDO). The office began the investigations from early hours of this Thursday.

As an institution, the Public Ministry is energetic in the face of these acts of violence.

It is essential to carry out a thorough investigation to determine whether the act is the result of the prosecutor’s function, because, if so, we would be faced with an event that would exceed limits that cannot be exceeded once again: we will not allow the Public Ministry to be weakened by this type of acts that are intended to intimidate officials,”

said Emilia Navas, Attorney General.

De La O was transferred alive to the San Juan de Dios Hospital. However, he died minutes later.
