Prosecutor’s hitmen died fleeing the scene

February 8, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The murder of prosecutor Hans De la O Solís was a passionate crime, according to the authorities. He was attacked and shot during the early hours of November 23rd, 2017, in his house garage in Fallas de Desamparados Street.

The Homicide Section of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) determined that the prosecutor received four bullets in the face that caused the subsequent death in San Juan de Dios Hospital (HSJD).

Walter Espinoza, director of the OIJ, confirmed that through security camera videos they reached the conclusion that two of those involved moved in a pick-up truck. Additionally, two other subjects moved on a motorcycle and -according to the hypothesis- participated as hitmen. These people approached the garage of De la O’s house and shot him point-blank as he prepared to put his car in the garage.

However, both gunmen died on December 22nd last year in a traffic accident in Garantías Sociales, after a controversial altercation in a bar in the shopping center El Pueblo where there was a deceased.

One of the assassins was Fernández Alvarado (aka Rabbit), while the other ws Barrantes Solano (aka Casco). Both between 20 and 22 years old.

They intervened directly in the criminal act. They were hired by third parties, who were the intellectual authors. The motive of the homicide is not related De la O’s job,”

said Espinoza.

The judicial police already has an idea of who hired the hitmen and prepared the crime to end the life of the prosecutor. These two people are already fully identified.

This is a passionate crime. We will continue with the investigations, but we hope that in the coming weeks we will have more data. We asked the community for help to provide us with information about the vehicle that participated in the crime,”

said the police chief.

De la O, 49, lived with his mother and had a 20-year-old daughter.
