PUSC asks the government to negotiate with Restoration to protect the fiscal plan

October 2, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Pedro Muñoz, from the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC), asked the government to negotiate with National Restoration so that this fraction and its 14 votes approve the fiscal plan, after it was revealed that the Full Court said last week this requires 38 votes and not 29 as originally planned.

The justification was based on article 167 of the Political Constitution that establishes that those bills that refer to the organization or financing of the Judicial Power will require the support of two thirds of the legislators.

Muñoz believes that negotiations between the Executive Power and the legislative fraction should be established, especially if it is about 14 votes, which would tie the bill to strengthen public finances.

The initiative currently has the backing of the ruling party that provides 10 safe votes, in addition to the PUSC which would provide at least seven, and the National Liberation Party (PLN) would give at least 15, which would represent about 32 votes.

Many people voted for National Restoration; it seems to me that the government cannot turn a blind eye and ignore that there is a fraction with so much weight, they have to do the same to reach an agreement,”

explained the Social Christian.

The restorationists are the second largest bench in the Legislative Assembly, behind the PLN that brings together 17 legislators.

This fraction has said that although they believe more taxes are necessary, they do not agree with taxing certain products and services such as the basic basket or medicines.
