PUSC will insist on hiring 1,000 new, police officers

November 30, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Unidad Social Cristiana Party (PUSC) will insist that the corporation tax funds should be used to hire 1,000 police officers.

That was stated on November 29th by head of the PUSC Gerardo Vargas Rojas, who expressed that this week they will present a modification to the project that aims to reinstall the tribute discussed in the legislative plenary.

It cannot be possible to impose a tax that is supposed to improve citizens’ security and at the same time to refuse to hire more police,

said Vargas Rojas.

PUSC presented a motion regarding the Finance Committee on Legislative Affairs on November 16th, but it was rejected.

Therefore, they will reiterate the proposal on December 15th in the plenary before the bill is voted.

The tax on corporations was annulled by the Constitutional Chamber on January 29th, 2015.
