Last Tuesday, in San Bosco de Mora, a fallen tree caused an electric pole to fall on the road and it struck an ambulance. The road was completely blocked, so Diana Porras, a citizen who lives in Puriscal, couldn´t take it anymore and decided to get off the bus and walked in the rain for almost 2km to take an alternate route. So the travel that normally takes 1 hour and 15 minutes lasted 3 hours.
Diana’s case is an example of the frustration that causes traffic congestion in the country, which usually increases during the rainy season.
The National Meteorological Institute reports indicate that, from this month, it is going to rain in the afternoon, so traffic jams could increase.
According to psychologist Ana Salas, the situation could generate high levels of frustration, stress and even reckless driving, so she recommend citizens make an extra effort to control emotions like anger, and to look for alternatives like listening to music in the car or to take the opportunity to read a book on the bus in order to lower stress levels.
