A legislative bloc comprised by 25 representatives will send a letter to Pope Francis to warn him about the Government’s plans for expanding abortion practice in Costa Rica.
The representative Mario Redondo denounced the Government intents to extend abortion application against life.
The letter will be signed for representatives of five parties, including some legislators from the governing party Partido de Acción Ciudadana.
In Costa Rica, therapeutic abortions are only allowed when the mother’s life is at risk. By the end of last march, the United Nations’ Human Rights Committee recomended Costa Rica to expand abortion practice for cases of babies diagnosed with fatal malformations, incests, and rapes.
The papal hearing is agreed to take place on May 27.
