Republican candidate asks government to remove diplomatic official from Venezuela

August 8, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Dr. Rodolfo Hernández, a candidate for the presidency of the Republican party, asked the government to remove its diplomatic representation in Venezuela as a measure against the political and social crisis they are experiencing.

In that country, Costa Rica has only one official, Ana Patricia Villalobos, who is in charge of the paperwork of around 1,000 Costa Ricans residing there.

Mr. President Solís, the only thing left to do now is to raise our voices and immediately break diplomatic relations with the tyranny of Nicolás Maduro,”

said Hernández.

What would happen to Costa Ricans in Venezuela? Hernández believes the government must inform them of the situation and persuade them to leave that nation.

Let the Costa Rican citizens who are there that they are on their own, that they must leave, because nobody is safe there,”

said the candidate.

The government has defended its position against the crisis in the South American country, being more critical in recent weeks, calling for tough decisions regarding that country.
