October 31, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Salvadoran former president Antonio Saca (2004-2009) was arrested on October 30th for alleged corruption, as informed by a spokesman for the Attorney General (FGR), who said that at the moment, they cannot provide more details.

According to La Prensa Gráfica, Salvadoran newspaper, the former president is under arrest in the Narcotics Division (DAN) of the National Civil Police (PNC).

The newspaper also published that the authorities are investigating 7 bank accounts held by the ex president’s former private secretary Elmer Charlaix, and some of them show evidence that Saca transferred money from the subsidiary institutional treasury account of the Presidency of the Republic and then made payments to former officials, companies and a political party.
