San José courts evacuated over bomb alert

September 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The trial of four physicians and a Greek merchant, suspected of forming a trafficking group for the purpose of illicit extraction of organs, was supposed to continue on Thursday afternoon.

However, a bomb alert at 2:15 p.m. caused the evacuation of all the buildings that make up the First Circuit of San José.

Apparently, it was an anonymous call warning about an explosive.

The trial would continue in Court 18. The case is against the former chief of nephrology at the Calderón Guardia Hospital, named Mora Palma and three surgeons named Monge, Fonseca and Mauro, and a Greek merchant named Katsigiannis Karkasi.

The statement this afternoon would continue with the version of Maureen Cordero Solano, officer of the Public Force, who is the main witness offered by the Public Ministry.

All the personnel working in the court building were invited to evacuate, while the specialized officers of the Public Force inspected the facilities.
