San José goes pink! Be part of the Breast Cancer Crusade!

October 13, 2016 by Staff News Writer

It is common to see San José full of pink color in October. On this occasion, the Breast Cancer Crusade will take place on October 16th at Paseo Colón. It intends to urge all women to prevent cancer.

Organizers aim to raise awareness in men and women in order to prevent breast cancer.

We do not want people to think of this as a race, but as an opportunity to help all those women who suffer from this disease,

explained Yessenia Soto, a spokeswoman from the organizing company.

There will be 5-and-10-kilometer races and a 4-kilometer walk. The goal is to donate the collected money to the National Foundation for Solidarity Against Breast Cancer (FUNDESO).

In 2001 and 2002, it was possible to deliver a mammography device to Coronado Clinic. In addition, they have delivered training latex vests from FUNDESO, as well as 150 prostheses and 150 brassieres. In 2009, 700 ultrasounds and mammograms were granted.

The race will be on Sunday at 7:30 am and you still have a chance to register through this link.
