San Pedro will have exclusive bus lanes in January

December 12, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Next year will bring road changes for the sector of San Pedro de Montes de Oca and its surroundings.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (Mopt) and the National Road Council (Conavi) ordered the demarcation of an exclusive lane (in both directions) for buses that go from La Hispanidad roundabout to Muñoz & Nanne.

The changes are supported by the studies of Traffic Engineering based on the Operational Plan of the Sectorization Project of the San Pedro-Curridabat, Tres Ríos sector.

Eduardo Brenes, Vice Minister of Transportation of the MOPT, explained that these works will be executed in four stages and the goal is to improve the travel times for users.

In the second phase the exclusive lane will extend from Muñoz & Nanne to the old Galera, which would be in operation in the first quarter of 2019. The third phase will take from La Hispanidad to La California neighborhood. And the last phase will go from the Old Galera to the canton of La Union.

Some of the buses that pass through the sector are: San Pedro, Granadilla, Curridabat, Tres Rios, Cartago, Pariso, Zona Sur and Turrialba.
